Christmas DIY Event

This month's event is called DIY Christmas and we've got some great arts and crafts for you all to make, including Christmas wreaths, flower arrangement table decorations, cards and gift tags, sugarcraft and many more. Please note: If making a wreath or table decoration there will be a small charge of £2.00 as materials were a little more expensive than we first thought. You will also be able to purchase a few decorations for your Christmas wreath. All proceeds will be put back into the WI Hassocks. There will also be a mood board for you to add your Christmas tips, food tips, present wrapping ideas, family traditions, childhood memories, funny stories or what makes Christmas special to you. Mince pies and mulled wine will be served and there will be a raffle with tickets costing £1.00 each. Finally, at the end of the evening there will be an opportunity to sing a few Christmas carols to really get us into the Christmas spirit. Oh and by the way don't forget to bring your scissors, secateurs and a bag to take your goodies home in!!
*Please note there are only 20 Wreaths and 20 Table Decorations, due to space and time. There will be an opportunity to buy an oasis ring on the night to make from home.

Friday Inspiration

Today feels like winter, not the romantic sense either. It is wet and colder than yesterday, it also feels like four pm even at ten am! So with that chilly mood in mind, why not light your creative fire and write a poem or a short story? It could be as simple as three sentences but it may warm your day! If have time to visit Jenifer Altmans story blog, you will find her mini stories magical and her photography beautiful.

Friday Inspiration

A good friend of mine is visiting for the weekend. As she is travelling from London, I asked if she could collect a few journals and pens from my favourite shop. On this thought, I wanted to share a timeless and enjoyable blog for those interested in keeping visual journals or scrap booking. The blog conveys a real vintage and poetic feel to it.

Friday Inspiration

This week has simply flown by. Firstly, I have moderated the blog so comments can be posted. Sorry if you have already tried this, please try again and feel free to post away! Secondly, with our November meeting just over a week away we hope that the posters will go up sometime next week. But as a reminder Monday 2nd November at 7.45pm, please spread the word.
Today's Fridays Inspiration is taken from a lovely blog called Moonmum, set up by Belinda Moon. It is all about some very clever card making. So if you are thinking of making your own please visit moonmum for further images or drop us an email with you own designs.

Autumn Days

It is that time of year, when you think about jumpers, wellies and pumkin soup! Any thoughts on how you will be filling your days?

Welcome

We have been thrilled with the response to the launch of the WI in Hassocks. At our second meeting in October 2009 we had over 50 in attendance, of whom 45 signed up. Our next meeting is on Monday 2nd November. Keep spreading the word, ladies!
Some of the things that our members have planned for the coming months are: wine tasting, frock exchange, basic first aid, basic DIY, pampering evening, crafts night and much more. Please feel free to post your comments, all will be read and passed on.
